Our Vision at a Glance

ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE!

We're loving the questions so we're here to offer a glimpse into what we're building and why we can't wait to see you there.

What is a Play Cafe?

LIKE A COFFEE SHOP, BUT WITH A BUILT-IN PLAYSPACE FOR KIDS.

A play café is a hybrid space that combines a child-friendly play area with a café where parents and caregivers can relax, socialize, or work while their kids play safely.

So Where Does the Sand Fit in?

AT SANDBOX BY HILL HOUSE, THE SAND IS THE STAR.

Our three giant indoor sandboxes create a unique, sensory-rich environment where kids can dig, build, imagine, and explore—no screens, no chaos, just pure, creative play.

For parents, it’s a chance to relax nearby with a coffee while their kids are happily engaged in meaningful play.

Okay, Got the Idea.  Let's Talk SANDBOX by Hill House

Sandbox by Hill House isn’t just the first of its kind in Idaho—it may be one of the largest indoor sandboxes in the U.S. Our 12,000 sq ft space will feature three large, themed sandboxes, each with a custom gross motor climbing structure and interactive, on-theme toys that spark creativity and movement.

Sand is uniquely soothing yet stimulating, offering sensory-rich play that encourages exploration and supports sensory integration. While our sand play naturally draws in sensory seekers, we go beyond the sandbox with a wide range of educational programming.

At Sandbox, we believe in the power of families. We’re creating a space where children and caregivers connect, grow, and thrive through play and community. We’re building more than a play café—we’re building a movement.

Early Look: Draft Rendering of Our Future Space

Here’s an early concept drawing that sparked it all! While the design has evolved throughout the build process, this version gives you the best bird’s-eye view of the layout we dreamed up from the start. It’s just a glimpse of what’s to come—and we can’t wait to show you the real thing soon!
